Picture Happy

I just wanted to post some more pictures of Caleb in the Hospital and his first week at home. We are very excited to have Caleb in our family, he is growing and eating and sleeping really well. Caleb so far has been a really good baby, not to fussy, only for food and diaper change. Kate loves her brother, everyday she says how cute he is. I'm feeling better everyday, I have my tough times, at night, and I move slower than I want to when it comes to getting around. It's hard being a get up and go kind of girl and having to take it easy to heal. I just have to give myself some time. I have to say the second c-section is a little easier than the first. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Caleb's First Week

Well it's been a little less than a week at home with Caleb and it seems to be going pretty good. It's been great to have extra help from family. I seem to be healing and getting around a little better everyday. I did my first trial run of taking care of Caleb by myself at night, with my mom just down stairs to assist me if I needed it. I have to do the feeding and changing at night alone because Jerry works the night shift, so I wanted to make sure I had it down while I still had help available to me. It went well, Caleb seem to be eating every 3 hours instead of every 2 like Kate; which is nice, it gives me a little more sleep time in between feedings. We had a good night, I was a little more sore when I got up this morning because I had to do a little extra than I had the nights before. Kate seem to be really liking Caleb, she came in our room this morning and said "Hi mom, how's the baby doing?, ooh he's so cute!" It's good to see her adjusting to the new changes in our house. Thank you to everyone who had us in their prayers for me and my family. I felt all your prayers and it truly made all the difference with my surgery and my healing progress. Thank you all so much.

Caleb Jerry Rasmussen

Caleb Jerry Rasmussen was born May 14, 2008 at 12:45. He weighted 7 lbs. 6 oz., and 20 1/4 inches long. We are so glad to have Caleb in our family. I was able to grab a moment to post a few pictures from the hospital for all of you. I was nervous about the surgery but it went really well, it took about 30 min. I'm pretty slow moving, but I have my mom and sister here to help me recover. I'm healing faster then last time which I'm grateful for. Kate is very excited to see her brother. She still sometimes thinks he is still in my stomach, I have to remind her that he is here, she say oh yeah baby brother is here. She is very protective of Caleb and is a really good helper. Kate struggles with sharing the Stroller and items that use to be hers. She doing pretty good with the whole thing. Caleb is great he is a sweet boy, he is eating and sleeping like a pro. Jerry is really excited to have his little boy, he has been such a wonderful support and help to me during this challenging change in our lives. He's a great dad and I look forward to seeing his relationship with his son develop just like he has with his daughter. Duty calls baby is crying, have to go feed him. I'll keep you all updated.

Day at the Pool

Yesterday we went swimming in the apartment swimming pool as a family of three for the last time. Soon we will have one more. Kate really loves to swim in the pool and she is getting braver everyday and trying to swim more with the help of daddy. Kate also discovered her shadow yesterday and didn't know why it was stuck to her feet. She kept waving to her shadow and trying to step on it. It was so cute to watch. We really had a fun last day together as a family of three.

Baby Shower

Today my Friends at Church, Sandy Gardner and Marie Crystal threw me a baby shower. It was so nice, I was so excited to see everyone that came. It was wonderful to feel their support and love. I really wasn't expecting to have another shower because I had one for Kate so I was pleasantly surprised. I really am grateful for all the things I received for our new little one. It truly has help us out so much. I thought I had a good start on what I needed, but after the shower I feel even better and more prepared for our little boy. I really had a wonderful time and it was great to get to talk to everyone and eat some really good food. The realization that I'm going to have this baby in less than 4 days really hit me even more today, especially after going to the shower and seeing all the little boy clothes. I'm am so excited to see and hold this new little baby, I can't hardly wait. Words can not express how much I appreciate what everyone has done for me, I am truly grateful and humbled by every ones love and support. I only got two pictures at the shower my friend took more picture on her camera, she said she would send me a copy, so be looking for those pictures a little later.

Totally Surprised!

Today I had a dear friend of mine, Becky Mitchell surprised me with a massage at a local day spa here in town. I was so surprised, I had never done anything like that in my entire life. It was so nice, after carrying this kid for nine months my body has really been though the ringer of back pains etc. It was nice to have a little break and from my aching muscles and my cute little daughter. Becky watch Kate while I had my massage. Thanks Becky your the Greatest! I recommend everyone get a massage and treat themselves, it was a really relaxing wonderful experience. I think I just thought of an idea for Father's day, Jerry would probably love a good massage, hey guys are entitle to a good massage right? I asked him and he said he would probably enjoy one. We I'm excited now, It so hard to shop for Jerry sometimes, he never knows what he wants, well I'm set for Father's day.
I'm starting to feel even more ready to have this baby, after my nice message, only 5 days left! What a difference a little relaxation can do for you!

Baby number 2 is coming soon

I went to the doctor today and got my ultrasound done. The doctor says everything looks great and he weights about 7 lbs. 8 oz. he a said he may gain a little more before Wednesday. We got to see his little face, he yawned at us and he kept covering his face with his hands. The doctor says he will preform the c-section around 12 noon on the 14th. He said everything looks great and it should only take about 30 minutes to do. We preregistered at the Hospital after our appointment, the realization that this was going to really be happening hit me pretty hard. I'm excited and so nervous at the same time. Kate kept saying why didn't the hospital take baby brother out, I had to tell her that we still have rings on our little chain we made, so as soon as we have no more rings on the paper chain is when baby brother will be here. She said I have to wait a little more than , I told her just a little more. Kate is very excited and always is asking me when she can hold baby brother.

Just for Fun !

I found these older pictures on an old memory card and wanted to share them with all of you. It's really random, Christmas, and Halloween of 2007 and Easter 2008 and other random pictures I thought everyone would get a kick out of. I especially like the Halloween ones myself, we had a great time dressing up at the Ward Party.

The Count down begins

As you know we are expecting our 2nd child in a few weeks, so we have officially started our count down until baby brother arrives. I was trying to think of a way to help Kate grasp what was going to be happening; So Kate and I made a paper chain together to help her visually see when baby brother will be here. It's been really great, we've use it to learn a variety of things all at the same time. While we were making it we learned about color patterns and numbers/counting. Each day Kate counts how many rings are left on the chain, we sign and say the numbers. If you ask Kate she will tell you that everyday we take one off and when we get to the top baby brother will be boring, yes instead of born she says boring, don't ask me I don't know why. She says it's brothers birthday. I think sometimes the paper chain is there more for me then for her. It makes me really see and visualize how soon this new little one is coming into the world. I am excited, nervous and stressed all wrapped into one. It's good, I'm excited to not be pregnant anymore and feel more like myself.

No public restrooms

Today I found myself frustrated and upset with something so simple. Most of you know we have been potty training Kate for what seems like forever. Kate is really doing well with #1, pee-pee, what ever term you are comfortable with, she goes all day by herself with no accidents. On the other hand the girl will not Poop/#2/ have a BM (Bowel Movement) on the toilet. She always runs to her room after the deed has been done and tries to clean it up here self, which you can imagine is a lot more work for me. She knows what she is doing and has all the mechanics down but won't go. People say some children have a hard time with this concept. We were hoping to maybe have a week free of diapers before our son cames, but I don't for see that happening.
Any ways now that you have the background of what I am dealing with back to what I was so frustrated about today. We have been taking Kate out in public without a diaper on for sometime now, she has been really good at telling us when she has to go. We were out paying bills today and she mention she had to go. Well we asked two people in two different locations if they had a restroom Kate could use because we are potty training her. They both said we don't have a public restroom, we said is there any way our daughter could use your private bathroom so she won't have an accident. The one lady was going to, but her supervisor told her no. I just could believe they would let us use the restroom, they would rather a little girl have an accident in there office then let her go. I understand the reason that there isn't a public restroom for the general public to use but isn't this an exception. The lady told us if we let you use it we have to let everyone else and we just can't do that. I guess I am frustrated with people not just trying to help another person out and just being nice. I just don't understand. I'm probably just overreacting, blame it on the pregnancy hormones I guess. In the end we quickly made our way to the city court house, knowing they have to have a public restroom right, and got Kate to the bathroom with no problems, just a little bit of frustration.
