Thanksgiving Apple Turkeys

It was a small put fun thanksgiving this year.  We had a wonderful meal full of all the goodies we all love to eat.  I took a little poll and found out what every one's favorite part of the meal was and this was what they said.....  Kate Loved the Rolls, Caleb couldn't get enough of the Jello Salad, and Jane really enjoyed her Stuffing.  I loved everything so did my Dad and sister, my Mom had to work but we saved her a plate for later.  As part of the days activities my sister came up with making these cute Apple turkeys.  It's made out of apples, tooth pics and fruit slices, raisins, and marshmallows.  The kids has so much fun! Caleb took all the fruit slices, and he came up with make feet all by himself, I thought that was really creative of him.  Kate loved thinking of things she could put on her turkey as well.  Jane just watched of course.  All in all it was a simple fun activity I just might have to repeat next year.

Aunt Amy helping Caleb, love the tongue sticking out!

Caleb used most of the fruit slices on just his apple.

He thought of making the feet all by himself, pretty creative!

Thanksgiving F.H.E.

Family Home Evening this week was all about giving thanks and being grateful.  We talked about what the meaning of this coming holiday is and why it is important to be thankful.  The kids really enjoyed this family night.  I made a turkey earlier in the day out of construction paper.  I traced Kate's feet for the body of the bird and then cut out feathers of all colors to be used later.  As part of the lesson we had everyone pick their favorite color feather and write all the things they were thankful for.  I think the turkey turned out great.  It was a great  to take a moment out of this busy holiday season to remember what we are thankful for.  I know that when I have an Attitude of Gratitude no matter what my life may hold, life seems to go a little better.  You're able to see what you have not what you don't have.Gratitude makes what you have enough.  Here is what everyone said they were thankful for.......

Kate- Jesus, Rainbows, Flowers and Birds, animals
Caleb- Nursery  to learn about Jesus and Snacks
Mom- Family and Good Health
Aunt Amy- Job, family
Grandma- Grand Babies, America, home

Alpine Sunset

Growing up I have seen so many beautiful breath taking sunsets in my parents home. I wanted to try and attempt to capture one from my camera, so here is my best try.  The view from my parents back patio is amazing.  The back drop of the mountains added to a sunset is simply awe inspiring.  Makes me so grateful for God's creations and the small and simple things he gives us each day to show us he loves us.

Fashion Show

She posed like this on her own
Kate can't get enough of playing dress-up. So my mom and I had a cool idea, we hit the kid to kid store right after Halloween and got a bunch of 50%-75% off Halloween costumes.  It was awesome! My mom got so many things to fill her dress-up box for her grand kids. We even found a police men outfit for the boys and the very best buy was the speed racer helmet for only $1.50.   Caleb would not even let us take it off of him to ring it up on the register. It was hilarious to see this little two year old running with this huge white helmet on his head,  I have to say by far it was the buy of the day.  Caleb still wears it all over, he loves to ride his McQueen car and race all over Grandma's house.

So back to Kate, after buy all these costumes Kate could hardly contain herself. Kate had ripped off all the tags before we had a chances to properly cut them.   So now I had to find those annoying plastic tag pieces and cut them, more like I had to search to find them, so frustrating.  After we got that out of the way she insisted on have a fashion show.  She tried on ever single outfit, well at least the ones that fit her, we got some smaller outfits for her cousin.  Kate also wanted me to take pictures while she posed and danced in all the new costumes.  Kate had a great time and still is having fun time dressing-up!  What a great idea Grandma!

Kate was yelling Go Cougars...Go Cougars!

Doesn't she look like Princess Peach?

Glam girl

The before picture of the caterpillar on her eye

This is the After picture of the eyelashes on the right way
Kate was having a little too much fun with her new BLACK eyelashes her Grandma Rasmussen gave her for Halloween.  She loved posing and smiling for all the cameras.  Kate had so much fun putting them on and then looking at herself in the mirror.  The first time she put them on by herself, my sister said what is that on Kate's eyes, it looked like she put permanent marker on her eyes.   I started to get so irritated saying not another disaster, but we soon figure out what it was and started cracking up laughing.  We helped her put them on correctly so they wouldn't look like caterpillars growing on her eyes.  Thanks Grandma Rasmussen, Kate loved her eye lashes, what a fun idea!

A day at the Park

So this was a few weeks ago but I still wanted to mention it.  I took the kids including my niece Julia to this new park in Alpine.  It is simply beautiful, the panoramic view of the mountains, that in itself is a site to behold.  This park is really neat, it's got all kinds of spinning toys and creative play yard stuff that you don't typically see on a normal playground.  It has a huge grassy area and a walking/running path all the way around it. In the summer they have a new splash pad that looks really neat to try.  The kids had a great time and it was probably the last really nice, cool, pleasant afternoon of the season before the bitter cold winter.  The kids had a great time exploring the new park and having a picnic lunch under one of the many pavilions.  It was a great day at the park.
