Sheet Flying

Bed Sheet Flying has in the past at the Mott residence been a past time activity that has provided a lot of fun and laughter. Some may think it is strange or even a bit crazy, but if you have never tried it you really don't know what your missing. Such a simple thing, how could it be so fun you ask, well it's the rush of a gush of wind behind your sheet and the unexpected thrill of possibly being blown away. It's simply a blast, and it gives you the sensation of what it might be like to fly. So my description might be a little too dramatic, but it's the truth. My parents house is set on the upper edge of a mountain creek bed, as the kids in the neighborhood called the Gully. It is the prime location for catching the wind in your sheet on a windy day. I will say the wind here is huge, sometimes even a nuisance when your trying to sleep. So as a teenager my sisters and I on a windy day would get some sheets and go sheet flying as we called it. I never got a picture of me doing it with my sisters, but my mom got one of my three sisters doing it together. So the first thing I thought of when we had a really windy day here was, Kate and Caleb have got to try this. She had a really great time! It just happened to be super, extra windy the day we tried it. I almost fell over twice, Kate was so low to the ground she didn't have to worry about that. Caleb wasn't to interested. So bizarre as this pastime entertainment seems, don't knock it if you haven't tried it!

Jane 6 Months

Jane is now 6 months old and doing Great! She is now sitting up on her own and really eating her cereal pretty good. Jane at first wasn't quiet sure what to think about the rice cereal but as soon as I switch to the Oatmeal she was loving it. There is just something about that rice cereal my kids just don't like. My Pediatrician said if they don't like it, it's fine to just move on to the oatmeal then. I remember that from Kate and Caleb and decided to give it a try and sure enough the oatmeal went over much better than the rice. Jane loves to laugh and smile at everyone she sees. Her newest things she loves to do is roll her ankles and wiggle her toes. Jane stares at her feet while she does it. Jane enjoys taking baths, she is quite the water baby. Jane is a very happy and easy to please baby. She has such a sweet disposition. She loves to ride in the car and go to the store and look around. Jane like clock work, starts her nightly talking I call it, where she just talks her baby talk right around 7:00 every night. She just talks and giggle and tell you all about her day. Jane still loves to be swaddle in a blanket to calm her down. Jane has gotten very good and grabbing things, especially her Binky. She is able to grab her Binky all by herself and put it back in her mouth. Jane is really enjoying swinging in the swing and playing in the play saucer. She has the most fuzziest brown hair I have ever seen. It is so fuzzy and soft and out of control, you try to brush is down or in a certain way and it wants to go in it own direction. It has a mind of it's own, I love it though, it is so cute. I am trying to remember all the things she is doing right now because heaven knows when she is 5 I will probably forget. I think that is pretty much what Jane is doing now that she is the big 6 months now. It's hard to imagine I had a her only 6 month ago, time is going by to fast. Oh please slow down time just for a little while... That's what I wish sometimes, because I realize my babies don't stay little forever. We sure do love Jane and are so blessed to have her in our family.

Jane Eats First Solid Foods

Jane has officially join the world of the real food eaters, well rice cereal that is. Not the most appealing food on the planet but it's a start. As you can see from the pictures the first taste didn't go over to well. Jane did really well after a few bits, she did well swallowing her food. Jane loves to grab the spoon, she has really gotten the hang of this eating thing!

SwimmingTime

As part of Caleb's birthday we went to a local pool my sister found in Lehi. Everyone loves to go play in the water. The kids enjoy playing on the pool equipment that shoots out water everywhere, and has waterfalls to go under. The best part is, about ever 5 min a large, no I should say giant bucket of water fill up and drops all over the play area. If you are in just the right place when that water falls it can really give you a headache afterwards. The Kids love it, and I do to. It's a great way to get some of the kids energy out. It's also nice because it is only knee deep so Caleb is able to stand up on his own and not have to be held the whole time like other standard pools. Caleb had a great time playing in the water for his birthday.

The Box

I have decided that you can buy your kids anything and they will still love the box it came it better. They play with it more and seem to be more entertained. I guess I will never understand this phenomenon.

Caleb Turns 2

Our little boy Caleb turned 2 on May 14th. Caleb had a wonderful birthday this year, we were able to celebrate two times with both sets of Grandparents and family, a rare treat. Caleb is totally into cars and balls so you can guess we decided to go with a CARS theme. He loves Lighting McQueen!! So we decked out the place with all things CARS, plates, cups, streamers, balloons and of course his Cake. Caleb came done from his nap and was totally surprised with all the decorations and giant car balloon, he did is normal hoo hoo noise when he gets excited.
Once again I totally stressed about making Caleb's cake. Its a family tradition I wanted to continue. My mom took a couple of classes in college and with her natural talent was able to make anything our hearts desired in cake that is. I try to attempt to come close. I never really appreciated all the work my mom put into my cakes as a kids until I started making them for my own kids. I guess my very first job I had at Kencraft candy factory was for my benefit, I just didn't know it then. I really enjoy making my kids cakes, it gives me time to reflect on the past year of their little life. I think about things they have learned, how they have grown, and fun memories. It's a special time for me to step back and just reflect and remember. Caleb's cake was quiet the challenge for me, but I think it turned out pretty good. Caleb seemed to really like his cake, as soon as he saw it he started making car sounds and saying go go go! (He is actually sitting next to me right now going crazy looking at the picture of his cake, making car nosies like crazy and yelling go go in my ear, so funny) We had pizza for lunch and then had cake, I think watching Kids eat their cake is one of the highlights of a birthday for me. Caleb was even more silly this year than the last, I gave him a fork to eat it with and he decided he wanted to just pick up the whole huge piece of cake and eat it with his hands. Caleb is so vocal when he eats, he was constantly saying mmmm, ohhh and yum. He would stop and say cheese to the camera when you took a picture of him, what a ham!

He really got into eating his cake this year. Then we had presents. Typical two year old all he wanted to play with and was interested in is the first thing he opened, after that we had to distract him from the last thing he opened so he would open the next toy. Caleb had big sister and cousin Julia help him open a few with him, helping him with the wrapping paper, oh course Kate and Julia where more than willing to help, it was nice to have them get involved. After presents we just hung out and played with all the new toys the family had given him.

After a few hours, I took a look around the room and it looked like a Car had literally threw up everywhere. There was some much stuff with McQueen on it and toy cars everywhere. It was great, Caleb had a really great birthday. We also got the chance to visit with Jerry side of the family and have a second birthday celebrating. We continued with the Cars theme, we bought the cake for this party, the first cake was just to hard to repeat.

It was great we had a wonderful dinner made by Jerry's Dad. We had Hawaiian Hamburgers, I had never had pineapple on my burger before, but whoa it was so good. We also had wings and potato salad, I felt so bad, my father-in law got called into work at the last minute because a co-workers wife just had a baby and the shift needed to be covered. We missed him! After that we open lots of fun presents from all the Grandparents, cousins and Aunts and Uncles. Then we had Cake, Caleb did really well blowing out his candles this year, I was impressed. It was a great time as well at the Rasmussen side of the family celebrating Caleb's birthday.
It's been such a pleasure and a blessing to see this little man of ours grow, and learn. Caleb is truly the sweetest most tender heart boy. He is so aware of others around him and cares so much for his sisters. I simply love his little laugh and his cheery grin. Caleb is now a whopping 25 pounds and growing taller everyday. Caleb as you know loves cars and to kick his soccer ball around everywhere. He now says Mommy and ma ma, I thought I would never hear him say that. Now I am not sure how excited I am about it now, because that is all he says now. Caleb has actually really started to say a lot more words now, he is becoming quiet the vocal little guy. He say go, back, dogie, Jane, da da, Kate, please, Cookie, taco, baby, uh oh, no, bye-bye,bath, car, and a whole lot more I can seem to remember right now. Caleb loves to give every guy he sees Rocks and High fives, must be a guy thing, I just don't know. Caleb has become quiet the little dancer too. A couple of weeks ago he managed to turn on Grandma's radio/CD player and started dancing to the music in front of her wall mirror, to to funny. He dances to anything that has a beat. He loves to car dance also. He still has a thing for ears, he pulls on his ears and others ears for comfort. He plays and plays with every ones ears, he has done that since he was a little baby. He still love to sleep with his blanket a friend of ours made for him, he will not go to sleep or sleep with anything but that blanket. So lets just say I make sure it's clean and out of the dryer by nap time, I have learned my lesson. Caleb at this point has no interest in potty training and I am fine with that, I have learn I need to go at the my kids pace a little more instead of my pace. So I guess I am going to be dealing with two kids in diapers for a little while longer. Caleb really loves to go swimming and take baths. He can't seem to get his clothes off fast enough.
We sure do love Caleb, he has been so wonderful to have in our family, Happy Birthday Caleb we love you Lots. Thanks to everyone for helping make Caleb's birthday happen and for making it such a special day!
