Pumpkin Patch 2008

The Kids and I had a great time going to the Local Pumpkin Patch and picking out our own pumpkins, I've been wanting to do this with Kate since she was Caleb's age but never got the chance. Kate loved looking and finding all the funny shaped pumpkins, I think she was trying to find Spookley the square pumpkin from one of the night time stories we have been reading. We really enjoyed going with our friends it was a perfect time to go, we had the whole patch all to ourselves. Kate wanted me to carve her pumpkin into a scary face, and I did my usual funny face. It was a great time. Caleb was all smiles as usual.

Kate's First Hair Cut

Kate was very excited to get her hair cut. Jerry was very patient with me and letting me not cut Kate's hair until I was ready. OK so we just got it trimmed but that was still the first time a pair of scissors touched her hair. Kate was excited to go with daddy and get her hair done at the same time. She had this funny nervous but excited look on her face. Caleb is just smiling because he's glad it's not his turned today. Kate look very cute with her hair nicely trimmed. It need to be trimmed, I was starting to get the brush caught in it a lot and the ends were thinning out, it was time. Jerry thought I was silly when I grabbed a piece of her hair to put in her baby book. I told him she wasn't going to have very many first anymore and this was one of them. He didn't give me to much trouble after that, I think because he realized I had a good point. It was a good fun experience.

House of Order and Personal Change

Well, this week I tried something a little different. I have always struggled to keep this little apartment clean and tidy. We have so much stuff and not enough place to put things, so as you can imagine when one or two things get left out it can look really messy. I use to clean my house on as need basis and it just wasn't working for me, something had to change. I was talking to my friend Stacy and she told me what someone told her once, you have to really be serious about wanting to change, or else your're just going to keep talking about it and nothing is going to change for you at all. So after much prayer and thought, I had a thought run threw my mind that said " If your children have a schedule on when they do things each day why wouldn't a schedule work for you." I know it not a rock science idea but sometimes the simplest answers are right in front of your face and you don't even see them. So two weeks ago I really clean everything up, got the laundry caught up, the rooms straighten up, bathrooms in order, etc. so that I could start following a schedule of certain chores I would accomplish each day. This last week I put it to the test, I follow my list of chores each day and and did my dishes and room sweep at the end of each day. It was hard at first to change my old habits, I had to really be aware and remember to do what I had set out to do. I found that I was able to feel more relaxed knowing that all I had to do was the list of chores that day and I could tell myself I didn't have to worry about other items because, that's something that would get done this week just not today. My anxiety was better this week, I didn't feel like I had to be cleaning all the time, all day long. I could sit back a do something for me because the chores were done that day. It felt so much better to wake to a clean house and start on a better note. I felt much better and was in a better mood as well. I also started walking every morning with the kids. I started having a set time for when I exercise, because if any of you are like me if you don't schedule a time it may not get done. That too has been a nice change for me. I've had more time for me, more time for my kids and I don't feel so overwhelmed and consumed by my home and the house work. Like my Grandma would tell you I'm not a cleaner by nature, it's something I work on everyday. Like I said before this is not that exciting and new to all of you, but it been a good change for the better for me. It's been a much better week for me. I have truly been able to have Sunday be a day of rest, not having to clean up and then try to relax. I just want to share my personal positive change I've had this week. Looking back at this week I can say it has work a lot better for me, this new way of cleaning and I'm going to strive to stick with it and continue to be more at peace with myself.

Caleb 5 months old and Big sister Kate

Caleb is now 5 months old, hard to believe I know. He is really a sweet boy. He is almost sitting up, he does the slouch and rolls over to his side. He will be getting the hang of it very soon I think. Kate loves to sing you are my sunshine to Caleb, we have now found out that it's is favorite song right now. If you sing it to him he will instantly calm down and stop crying. Caleb still loves to be swaddled in his blaket, that the other thing that helps calm him down when he is fussy. He still has his sweet little baby cry, that sound like a little baby owl. He is really starting to reach and hold on to things really well. When his binky falls out, if it's near by his face he can place it back in his mouth. He likes to laugh and smile at anyone who will give him any kind of attention. He just figured out two nights ago how to vibrate his lips together and blowing out, spitting everywhere of course. He likes the feel and sound of it I guess. I think he might be on the verge of teeth, yeah, not really. He had so much fun doing that with his lips, last night he did it for an hour and a half straight and wouldn't go back to sleep after I nursed him. Usually after I feed him he goes straight to sleep, not last night. Caleb has gotten a little better with his reflux problem. He still spits up every time you burb him, just not as much. I'll take any kind of improvement in that area at this point. We were able to splurge on Caleb this weekend and we got him a jumper/saucer combo, he loves it. Thanks for the recommendation Stacy, it's super cute and Caleb loves to look at himself in the mirror and move the frog toy around and around. It was nice to be able to get something new, toy wise just for Caleb. Something to call his own that big sister Kate hasn't already played with. He's going to have to share a lot of things, so it was nice that Jerry let me get this for Caleb. I'll post a picture later. I can't really think of anything else, other than the last time the weight him at the doctors he was 16 pounds, and that was 3 weeks ago, that may have changed. Caleb is really doing well and growing big and strong. I took pictures of both Kids this time, Kate feels left out each month I try to take Caleb's picture, so instead of fighting that battle I just included her as well. The pictures turned out pretty good of the both of them together. Enjoy!

Renaissance Festival

The last couple of days I told Jerry I want to have an adventure, lets go and do something. So if was perfect when Aunt Karen called us the next day and said you should come up and visit us and go to the Renaissance Festival again. Well, Jerry said I don't know, and then later that night around 1:00 in the morning he called from work and said get stuff ready for the kids we are going to North Carolina to visit Aunt Karen. Talk about really late notice, it ended up being better for me because if I have to much time to think about packing I usually over pack. I packed just right for this trip. It was really great because the kids slept during the night, I only had to feed Caleb a few times and that was about it. We got there at 12:00 it only took us about 8 and 1/2 hours, it's normally only about 7 but with Kids and oh yeah Jerry forgot about the dog so she had to come with us. Sadie our dog actually did really great and it wasn't much of a hassle at all to take her.
We had such a great time. The weather was perfect, Aunt Karen Met us at the gate to welcome us and take Sadie back to her Camper for the day. Kate was having a great time right from the start. She got to pick out her own Princess Purple Hat and Wand. We ended up getting Caleb his own Prince hat, with my short notice packing I forgot the hat. The sun was really bright out and he need something to cover his head. It ended up perfect, he looked so cute, many people at the festival would stop and point and say look at that cute baby it the Hat, and ask us where we got it. Who knew a little hat on a baby would get so much attention. It was interesting this trip to the Festival, because last time it was just Jerry and I. This year we have our two kids. When it was just Jerry and I we went to all the skits and little shows and the shopping booths. This time we went on all the rides and got marshmallow shooters, Hats and watched the Jousting. I had fun both times, but more so this time. We had fun participating in all the festivals activities. If you ask Kate she will tell you her favorite part was doing back flips on the Pirates rigging. She did it three times, she had trouble the first time it took her the whole time to figure it out. When she finally did it the whole crowd cheered for her. The next time she did 15 back flips she was smiling and laughing so much. I don't know who was more fun to watch Kate or her daddy with is big proud, laughing grin on his face. He was so excited to watch her do all those back flips. Alot of people asked me how old she was and couldn't believe she was only 3 years old. They thought she was really brave. They also asked me if she took Gymnastic and I said no, put it has crossed my mind that we should enroll her. One lady was telling her son who was about seven to do something beside jump, I want to get my moneys worth, look at that little girls she's flipping. Everyone kept looking up at Kate and was saying how little that girl was doing all those flips. We had to do it three times because she wanted to show Jess, Aunt Karen, and Uncle Randy what she could do. It was fun to walk around with Karen and Randy and look at all the people dressed up. The Patrons often times came up to Kate and would say what a pretty princess she was. She would see them curtsee so she would get out of the stroller and curtsee back. Someone showed her a magic trick, where here jewel disappeared and came out her Ear, right after he left she tried it on Daddy. It was great to see her having a great time. She practically had Aunt Karen Laugh on the ground, literally with some of the funny things she would say and do. Aunt Karen said " You can't take this one home, she so funny". This was right up Kate's alley with all the Kings and Queens and fairies. She is really into all of that stuff so the timing was perfect. We all really enjoy riding the elephant together. We got some great pictures of it. The whole environment just seem to take you back in time. It was really fun to see all the people dressed up. Caleb did really well, he had a fun time riding in the sling and in his Chariot as the partrons would call it. We then went to Karen's to sleep and we went back to the Festival for a whole other day. It was great because you could really take you time and feel like you saw everything. We then went back to Karen's and talked with John and his girlfriend Beth, she really great. It was great to meet her and visit with John. We weren't sure whether we wanted to drive home that night during the night again or not. We end up driving at night anyways, because we decided we would make better time, that way and we would have a day to rest from traveling when we got back. The trip home was good, we where able to travel in safety and no accidents along the way. So I got my adventure and I'm so grateful Aunt Karen called us to come up to the Festival, it was really a great idea and we all as a family had a wonderful time. Thanks Aunt Karen!!

Rain Days, Resting, and Relaxing!

Today was a really nice day, despite what the weather had to say. It was raining buckets today. It was a perfect day to stay inside and relax. Kate was having a good day and being a really big helper. Caleb did good as well. So I decided once both Kids were down for their naps, I would enjoy my just made warm No Bake Peanut Butter cookies and a tall glass of milk. After that I would snuggle up in a nice fuzzy blanket and catch up on my Eclipse book, (part of the Twilight series). I have actually had the first three books since January this year, but I been having trouble finding time to sit down and actually read without kids interrupting me. I cruised through the first two before Caleb was born. I remember him kicking me a lot when I would get to a really intense part of the book. Since I've had Caleb it's been really difficult. I'm still up 3 times each night to nurse him so I'm still tired from lack of sleep. So back to my day, I had really good intentions of really getting into this book and reading it, but after about the first page my eyes kept getting heavy and I would drift off for a moment or two. I really want to find out whats happen next. Jerry got me the new book the day it came out and I feel bad that I haven't gotten to it sooner. I gave up and ended up taking a small nap to help me catch up on my sleep and give me my second wind for the rest of the day. It was nice to have a little me time even though most of it was devoted to napping. The Kids actually went to bed pretty easily tonight, some nights they just don't go down as easy, they are just not quite ready to go to sleep I guess. So off I go maybe tomorrow will be a better book reading day!

I got tagged again

I got tagged again by a friend of mine I am supposed to mention 5 things people don't already know about me. That's tough to think of things to say. I'll try...Let's see...

1. I always beat the rush. Whether it's the fast food line, the movie line, the line at the post office, the grocery store, even the dreaded line at the women's restroom. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, it's totally random. I can't explain it. It always happens, just ask my family.

2. I love eating toast or waffles with butter and strawberry jam together, it reminds me of my grandma, she use to do that.

3. I love sitting around my mom's table and talking with all my sister and my mom, really having some good girl talk. I missed that.

4. When I get nervous my husband says I tend to put my hand up to my mouth, I never knew I did that until he pointed it out.

5. I'd rather go to the to see the OBGYN 5 times before I go to the dentist, it hurts so bad and I have has such bad nightmarish experiences. That's terrible to say, both are pretty bad.

6. This one just for fun. I dream of getting a passport and going to visit maybe just half of the places my husband has seen. I want to get a passport and actually have a stamp in it that says I've gone somewhere. Experience something and see something new and exciting.

I am supposed to tag 5 people, well I tag Janna, Stacy,Karrie, Hila, Becky.

I love my Kids

I Love my Kids so much! I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to be their mom and what a great and wonderful responsibility that is. I love watching them learn and grow. It's been great getting to know Caleb and seeing his personality come out. It's been nice to see how Kate interacts with her little brother. I just want to express how greatful I am for my kids and how much I enjoy being a mom!
